Police campaign targets Bulwell motorists

THREE people were caught using mobile phones while driving during a police operation in the Hoewood Road and Sellers Wood Drive area of Bulwell.

This was reported by Police Community Support Officer Beth De’Ath at a meeting of Rufford Tenants and Residents Association.

She added that 11 drivers were found to be over the speed limit and one of them had no licence or insurance.

PCSO De’Ath said there had been a slight increase in burglaries, these being committed in the Commercial Road and Aspen Road areas, and inquiries were ongoing. But overall there had been a 20 per cent crime reduction in that part of Bulwell.

The meeting heard that children had been writing graffiti in chalk on the ground in the group’s area.

Emma Eckhardt, of Nottinjgham City Council, said officers would only attend to remove graffiti if it was obscene.

If it was just children writing their names or hopscotch squares in chalk, it would eventually fade or be washed away by rain.
