Police officer denies rape charge

A POLICE officer from the outskirts of the Dispatch district has denied a charge of rape.

Det Sgt Trevor Gray (47) appeared at Derby Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted rape and a count of sexual touching.

Gray, of Stannier Way, Watnall, is alleged to have committed the offences against a 43-year-old woman in the early hours of Sunday July 24 last year while he was off duty.

He has been suspended by the force and will go on trial on Monday May 28 at Derby Crown Court.
