Christopher Barnfather (Con)
Chris has been a resident of Ravenshead since 1985, together with his wife and daughters. He was formerly the chairman of governors at Abbey Gates Primary School and since 2004 has been a governor and long-standing chairman at The Joseph Whitaker School, Rainworth. As well as being a county, borough and parish Councillor, Chris is a member of the Nottinghamshire Fire Authority and a director of the East Midlands Education Trust. He is passionate about improving the life chances of our young people, hence his numerous roles in education, and he has also fought Labour’s plans to “urbanise” our rural villages with inappropriate development. He is a one stop shop for any issues across Newstead division and has been a committed servant of the community for many years.

Hide AdI am a mum-of-two who was born in Yorkshire and has lived in Nottingham for 10 years. A biology teacher of 18 years, I have been able to live Green Party values through my work, teaching about ecology and human impact on the environment to young people aged 11 to 18, the generation of our future who care massively about our planet and want us all to take care of it. I am standing because I believe people in Newstead division should have the opportunity to vote for the Green Party and I wholeheartedly believe in a greener and fairer Britain. The Green Party is the only political party who you can trust to oppose fracking. Vote for me and I will work my hardest to make sure our voice was heard and I will represent you with a fresh and no nonsense approach to local government.
