A RAIDER wearing a gorilla mask was forced to flee empty-handed after trying to rob an off-licence in Hucknall.

The man targeted the Booze Busters store on Nabbs Lane in the town.

He burst in brandishing what appeared to be a knife and demanded the takings from the till.

But a brave female shop assistant refused during the attack, which happened at 2.45 pm on Sunday July 10.

The woman threatened to raise the alarm and the raider left the store, which is part of a row of shops near to the roads junction with Babbacombe Way.

The man is described as 5’ 8” tall and of medium build.

His face was covered with the gorilla mask but he was wearing a grey fleece tracksuit, with the hood up.

CCTV footage has been checked by detectives investigating the attempted raid.
