Raleigh urged to return to its Nottingham roots

BULWELL’S Labour MP Graham Allen has launched a bid to encourage the potential new owners of Raleigh Cycles to return some of the company’s operation to its original home city of Nottingham.

The company left the city in 2002 but now the firm, Accell Group, of the Netherlands, is involved in exclusive talk to buy Raleigh.

Mr Allen’s grandad worked for the world-renowned cycle firm for 50 years.

The MP has written to the chairman of Accell’s board, explaining that Raleigh has iconic links with Nottingham and that he would like to meet with bosses to discuss his idea.
