HUCKNALL’S Conservative MP has won an award for his efforts to improve safety on an accident-blackspot road.
Mark Spencer has campaigned for improvements on the A614, which runs through north Nottinghamshire and meets the A1.
It has seen two fatal crashes, claiming eight lives in the last 18 months. Mr Spencer has supported the road-safety charity Brake and insurance company Direct Line for safety improvements for years.
Now he has been presented with the Road Safety Parliamentarian Of The Month prize for his efforts.
Calls have included a reduction in the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph and improvements to difficult junctions.
