A SADDLE-sore trio from a Hucknall church have raised more than £1,400 for Christian Aid through a charity bike-ride to Skegness.

The Rev David Winstanley, minister at Central Methodist Church, of Baker Street, congregation member Nigel Smith and his teenage son, Ed, took on the challenge to the seaside resort.

They named the effort ‘Ride To The Sun’ and collected sponsorship money at the church, other places of worship in Hucknall and through a special page on the social-networking website Facebook.

The three cyclists completed the ride in two sections over two days.

Unusually, they rode halfway and then were driven back to Hucknall by their support team before returning to the midway point the next day to complete the challenge.

The money will go towards projects run by Christian Aid to tackle poverty and deprivation around the world.
