Sheep race to raise cash for Cancer Research

Have your say

A ‘SHEEP-racing’ evening to boost a fundraising event on behalf of Cancer Research UK is open to supporters from the Dispatch district.

Six battery-powered sheep in racing silks will be under starter’s orders at the Horse and Groom pub on Radford Road, Basford on the doorstep of Hucknall and Bulwell, on Tuesday April 17.

The crowd can pay £2.50 for a wad of ‘sheepy money’ to lay bets on the outcome of each race as the sheep bleat their way to the finishing line.

Fundraising is part of the run-up to the Relay For Life event at Harvey Hadden Stadium, Bilborough, on Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15. It involves teams taking part in a 24-hour track relay to earn sponsorship cash on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
