Show successes for wine makers.....

TRIBUTES were paid by HUCKNALL WINE CIRCLE to long-serving member Alan Taylor, who died recently, with condolences extended to his wife, Norma.

At the October meeting, a talk entitled ‘Excuse Me Madam’ was given by Richard Papworth.

A whole host of awards have been won by circle members at recent wine festivals.

At Nottingham Wine Festival, pperformances of note came from: Alan Fisher (1st table red dry, 1st table red kit wine, 1st white dessert, 2nd dry red fruit, 3rd table white kit); Harry Bown (2nd table dry white, 3rd table red dry, highly commended table white medium and white sweet and most points in classes one-to five), Len Cantrill (3rd rose, 2nd table red dry kit), John Chilton (2nd white medium kit).

Gedling Show: Alan Fisher (2nd red wine), Tessa Fisher (2nd white wine, and first apple scone), John Chilton (1st red wine, white wine and loaf of bread and best culinary exhibit.

Chesterfield Beer and Wine Festival: John Chilton (3rd table wine, medium white), Alan Fisher (highly commended table wine red dry and also wine made from kit).

The next circle meeting is on Monday November 19 when there will be a competition for a sweet aperitif wine.

The organisation is also holding an autumn dance on Tuesday October 30 at Leen Mills Primary School in Hucknall with music from Trevor Andrews.
