The potential for a huge volunteering effort in Bulwell will be explored with the visit of car magnate Sir Peter Vardy today.

Sir Peter, founder of Safe Families for Children UK, is coming to the town following a request from Nottingham North MP Graham Allen.

The businessman has built a successful family help service in the North East based on reviving community spirit and training local volunteers who help children and parents.

Mr Allen, who chairs the Rebalancing the Outer Estates Project, said: “He is coming to Nottingham at my request and we will explore whether we have the desire and the capacity in the community to organise a volunteer force who might take forward Safe Families for Children in Nottingham North.”

The meeting is due to take place in the Riverside Centre, Bulwell from 12.30 to 1.30pm.
