THE “AMAZING talent” of members of Hucknall Art Society was praised at the group’s annual exhibition and competition.
The tribute came from Coun Chris Baron (Lab), of Ashfield District Council, as he chose the winner of a silver salver he has been presenting to the top artist for more than a decade.
Honours this year went to Doreen Wright, of Common Lane, Hucknall, for her pastel picture of an owl and small bird on a branch.
Coun Baron picked the piece from a selection of more than 40 artworks created in oil, pastel and watercolours and displayed at the group’s base at the Central Methodist Church on Baker Street.
He said: “Every year, it gets more and more difficult to pick the winner.
“The quality of the artists is phenomenal. I wish I had the patience to create a painting or drawing, but unfortunately, I haven’t!”
