THE OUTRAGEOUS ‘star’ of last year’s finals of hit TV show ‘The X Factor’ — Brazilian Wagner Carrilho — is being lined up as the headline act for the fundraising Party In The Park event in Hucknall.
The annual event, which attracts thousands of spectators, has established itself as the town’s biggest musical extravaganza.
It raises cash for the Help For Heroes cause, which supports British servicemen and women injured on the front line in battles across the world.
Now organisers are in negotiations with the controversial crooner to take centre stage at the Rolls-Royce Leisure sports field, off Watnall Road, on Saturday June 25.
Wagner hit the headlines by ‘murdering’ classic hits on the prime-time ITV hit — and clashing with contestants and judges!
But despite his obvious deficiencies on the mic, he managed to stay in the competition for eight weeks thanks to public support.
Ben Marshall, who is one of the chief organisers of Party In The Park, said: “Wagner would be a brilliant act to have at the event. He would attract a lot of people.
“When he appeared on ‘The X Factor’, he was a bit like Marmite. People either loved him or hated him. I hope that if he appears in Hucknall, he would attract a lot out of curiosity.”
Mr Marshall revealed that it would cost £3,000 to book Wagner (51) for the event, which will feature several bands and soloists.
He explained that other famous names considered for the show include another oddball former act from ‘The X-Factor’, brothers Jedward. They have been discounted on account of being too expensive.
Chart-topper Daniel Bedingfield was also approached. But he declined because of his anti-war opinions.
Tickets for the third annual Party In The Park will go on sale soon and Mr Marshall is promising it will be the biggest yet, regardless of who tops the bill.
