SEQUINS, sparkles and a large dollop of sauce make Strictly Come Dancing Live everything that the hit TV show is and more.
I say sauce because, free from the constraints of Prime Time television scheduling, the cast, and judges in particular, indulge in more than a little innuendo that has everyone laughing out loud - and some turning a rather rosy hue!
The most recent series of Strictly was a runaway success and the tour is able to capitalise on this after securing the services of champion Louis Smith, finalists Denise Van Outen and Dani Harmer, popular contestants Fern Britton and Lisa Riley, plus, battling it out in their own mini league, former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Phil Tufnell.
Phil was on Strictly a couple of years ago and has been brought back, to be brutally honest, more for his comic ability than dancing ability!
What he lacks on the dancefloor, he more than makes up for with his daft antics - think toilet paper stuck on his shoe during his ballroom dance and some rather bizarre hip action in his Latin.
However, with the standard of dancing being so high this year, the highlight was always going to be seeing the best doing their thing, and so it was for the Capital FM Arena audience.
Denise’s jive and charleston were as perfect as ever, Dani’s fusion dance was brilliant - even with new partner Pasha - while Louis Smith came, danced and conquered, with a fantastic rumba and the famous salsa from Dirty Dancing winning him the glitterball yet again.
Special mention has to be given to Fern for giving the largely female crowd what they also wanted from the night - a glimpse of Artem’s pecs!
The judges Len, Craig and Bruno are much more fun and funny away from the more competitive show, the pro dancers and singers are great - it was all as Craig would say, Fab-u-lous! set that fills the stage.
