TWO Hucknall dancers will be following in the ballet pumps of Darcy Bussell in a professional production of Swan Lake.
Megan Singleton, 16 and Demi Ashmore, 10, (PICTURED) will be pirouetting on Nottingham Theatre Royal’s stage as part of the English Youth Ballet (EYB) performance of this dance classic from 27th-28th July.
National Church of England Academy student, Megan, and Demi, who attends Hucknall National Primary, successfully auditioned for their parts in March, competing against 350 other hopefuls.
The young dancers will feature alongside the English Youth Ballet’s international principal dancers in this professional production following a 10-day intensive rehearsal process at the Emmanuel School in West Bridgford.
“Working with EYB will be one of the highlights of these talented young dancers’ careers, to date,” said company manager Ben Garner. “The audiences watching EYB are in for a unique and exciting experience too.”
Demi will dance the role of a courtier while Megan performs as a swan. Both girls attend the Sarah Adamson School of Dance, based on Bodmin Avenue, Hucknall.
There will be three performances in total on Friday 27th July at 7.30pm and Saturday 28th July at 2.30 and 7.30pm.
