A HAIR stylist from Hucknall has proved she has picture-perfect scissor-skills — by winning a prestigious national competition.
For this image, of a haircut created by Tanya Hennessey, has won her the Hairdressing Council’s photographic competition — for the second year running.
Tanya, who runs Hair XS on Trent Drive with her husband Tony, beat off hundreds of other stylists across the country to take the top prize in the image of the year contest.
The competition is for state-registered hairdressers only. Tanya had to submit a photograph of her own work and describe how she created the style.
After hearing of her success, Tanya said: “It came as a big surprise. It is unheard of to win two years on the trot. I am very pleased.”
Explaining the inspiration for her image, she added: “It is based on Picasso and how he used colours. It is all about a bright and vibrant style.”
The Hairdressing Council, which was set up in 1964, aims to raise the standards of hairdressing. It believes that every salon in the country should be state-registered.
Tanya herself is no stranger to success. Earlier this year, she was awarded a fellowship with honours by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing in recognition of services to the industry.
