A FUNDRAISING event with a difference is being planned by a Hucknall tattoo studio.

Vision Ink, based on Watnall Road, is dedicating a whole day to raise money for a cancer charity by tattooing its iconic ribbon design es, sizes and colours on willing customers.

The well-established studio will be offering its services in half hour slots on Friday October 12 from 9 am to 5 pm for a minimum donation of £20.

“Everybody has been affected by cancer in some way, either personally or through friends and family,” explained Kelly Welsh, whose husband, Jack, is one of the studio’s artists.

“We thought it would be a great way to give something back.”

Vision Ink has been open for 12 years and boasts three resident artists, Scott Simms, who owns the studio with wife Tracey, Tez Gee and Jack.

All three artists will be working on the ribbon designs throughout the day and are hoping to complete three designs every 30 minutes.

Kelly added: “We have already received a lot of bookings for the day and hope to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

“Customers can have their designs where they want in a wide selection of colours.”

The ribbon symbol has become synonymous with cancer awareness with different colours or combination of colours represent ing different cancer or charitable organisations.

Breast Cancer has a pink ribbon, while colon cancer is represented by a blue ribbon.

A gold ribbon is used for paediatric cancer and a light blue ribbon is linked to prostate cancer.

All the money raised through donations during the event will go towards Cancer Research UK.
