BARGAIN hunters were out in force at Bulwell’s United Reformed Church for a successful fundraising Christmas fair that owed much to teamwork.

Church stalwarts, the Rev Maureen Buxton and the Rev Jean Cook, were the driving forces behind the well-attended festive event, which is one of the few where proceeds go directly to church projects.

The young and young at heart were in their element, snapping up goodies at rock-bottom prices. Cards, cakes, toiletries, jewellery, books, toys, bric-a-brac, fair-trade goods and knitted goods were just a few of the delights on offer.

Light lunches were an added bonus, while a ‘Guess The Weight Of The Cake’ game, tombola and a ‘From Bethlehem’ wooden crafts stall all proved popular.

The efforts of those involved were rewarded with a total raised of £650.

Mrs Buxton praised everyone who took part, adding: “Fun, friendship and teamwork have enriched our Christmas fair. The money raised will boost the church’s coffers.”
