GLITZY gowns and spectacular entrances were the order of the day as school leavers from National Comprehensive in Hucknall partied the night away at their prom.
More than 180 pupils turned on the style for the event at the Goosedale banqueting suite at Bestwood Village.
The girls caught the eye with formal dresses and tiaras, while the boys took the chance to sport smart suits. One teenager even came dressed as a pimp in a purple velvet number, complete with floppy-rimmed hat!
Keeping true to the American origins of proms, the celebrating revellers splashed the cash on an array of different vehicles to get them to the bash.
One group of boys turned up in an armoured people carrier in Army green.
A trio of girls arrived in an ice-cream van, there was a fire engine, a collection of classic cars, sports cars and stretch limousines.
The evening included a buffet and disco, while each teenager received a cupcake decorated in the school’s colours of blue and white and a small box of chocolates.
Carol Hartley, of the Annesley Road school, who helped arrange the prom alongside a committee of students, said: “The night was fantastic. It will provide memories to last a lifetime.”
