A CONCERT to mark the 125th anniversary of the birth of the world-renowned Hucknall-born composer Eric Coates is now less than 12 weeks away.
The Hucknall-based Eric Coates Scoiety is behind the event, which will be held at the Central Methodist Church on Baker Street in the town on Saturday November 26.
Live on stage will be the Boots Orchestra, playing pieces created by Coates and his contemporaries.
Coates was born on August 27 1886. Among his most famous pieces are ‘The Dambusters March’ and ‘By The Sleepy Lagoon’, which is used by the BBC as the title music for the radio programme, ‘Desert Island Discs’.
Tickets for the concert are on sale at Hucknall Library, the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street, the Central Methodist Church, Hallmark on Central Walk and Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group, High Street.
