YOUNGSTERS were treated to a free fun day at Titchfield Park in Hucknall to help stave off summer-holiday boredom.
More than 450 youngsters poured on to the park to enjoy all sorts of different activities — without paying a penny.
There was a picnic, a visit by animals from White Post Farm in Farnsfield and a chance to take part in circus skills classes and painting activities.
Budding chefs got to try their hand at pizza making, while Ashfield District Council’s deputy leader, Coun John Wilmott (Lab), of Hucknall, handed out fresh fruit.
The event was organised by Hucknall fundraising group Fun Factor, and supported by the SureStart organisation.
Fun Factor chairman Amy Green said: “It was a great event. The turnout was better than expected and we had some very good feedback. The kids wanted to know when we were holding the next one.”
Fun Factor was set up after volunteers joined forces to create fun-filled activities for children aged up to 11.
The Titchfield Park event was funded by previous events, including discos and a children’s party.
The group also run the popular Friday Tots play sessions at St Peter and St Paul’s Church on Ruffs Drive in Hucknall for children aged up to five. These weekly sessions are held during school term-time.
