PASSENGERS using Nottingham’s tram network will see the service get back to normal on Friday – earlier than originally planned following the completion of work on a major engineering project.
Work began during the Easter holidays to replace tracks and upgrade the crossing at Noel Street, Hyson Green. The project meant the closure of a section of the tram system and replacement bus services being introduced between stops at The Forest and Wilkinson Street.
But today, NET Marketing Manager, Jamie Swift said: “We’re delighted that the maintenance work has been completed early and normal services will resume on Friday morning instead of next Monday which was the original plan.
“We recognise the project has caused inconvenience to our customers and we are very grateful for their understanding and patience.
“The work was essential as we prepare for an increase in service frequencies next year and hopefully customers will see the benefits in the months ahead.
“It has been a complex engineering project and we’ve taken the opportunity to upgrade the crossing in an effort to reduce noise.
“Our construction partners in the Taylor Woodrow Alstom Joint Venture have pulled out all the stops to finish the work in order to get our services back to normal just as soon as possible.”
