A TREASURE hunt unearthed a pot of gold during a summer-themed party in aid of a restoration fund for Hucknall Parish Church.
The fun-filled attraction for the whole family was held at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street — a venue that was formerly the hall of the Market Place Church.
The £185 collected will go towards an initiative tasked with raising £150,000 to restore crumbling parts of the church, including the main tower.
Damage was discovered to the building during an architectural assessment.
At the summer party, children revelled in the treasure hunt, which also took in the church grounds. A whole host of sweets were among the prizes. Other attractions included a raffle, bingo and a disco.
The SureStart Market Place children’s centre, which is based at the John Godber, also ran face-painting sessions and colouring competitions
