CHRISTMAS is here — and locally-grown festive trees are now available to buy at Brooke Farm on Main Street in Linby.
All Nordman fir trees available have been grown at Skegby and nurtured by local people working with Nottinghamshire County Council’s horticulture and work training service.
Nordman Firs and UK-grown spruces are available from the council-run farm, which is manned by adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Coun Kevin Rostance (Con), of Hucknall, who is chairman of the county council’s adult social care and health committee, said: “Unlike many other suppliers which source their trees from abroad, Brooke Farm’s Christmas trees are either locally grown or from a UK site which make them a much greener way of celebrating the festive season.”
All proceeds from the sales go back into providing training opportunities for people with disabilities to help improve their life and social skills.
