Vandals in car-smash rampage

A CAR-vandalism rampage during theBank Holiday weekend left more than 20 vehicles damaged in an area of Bulwell.

Residents on Cantrell Road, Nelson Road, Logan Street, Repton Road, Imperial Road, Broomhill Road and Henrietta Street woke on Monday morning to discover yobs had slashed tyres, smashed wing mirrors and ripped off aerials on their parked cars.

Police are appealing for witnesses after more than 26 cars were damaged in the area overnight between Sunday August 26 and Monday August 27.

It is believed more could have been targeted during the night.

Officers are looking into reports of two white men, aged in their 20s, kicking wing mirrors on Nelson Road just before 11p m on Sunday.

Onvestigations by officers include house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV footage.

Patrols have also been stepped up in the area to reassure residents.

One resident, Sheila Husbands (73) said she was disgusted at what had happened.

The pensioner was recently widowed and her son had parked his car and his van outside her house because he thought it would be safe.

His vehicle were both targeted with passenger-side tyres being slashed.

Mrs Husbands said: “It is just not on. I can’t repeat the words my son used when I told him. He was furious.”

Other residents have reacted with similar anger and say they hope the wanton vandalism is a one-off.
