A vintage picnic which took place on Bestwood Road Recreation Ground, Hucknall, could be a foretaste of the future.

The event was organised by the Hucknall South Re-Vision Group and Butlers Hill and Goodall Tenants and Residents Association on Saturday.

A major upgrade is planned for the ground, possibly featuring a toddlers’ play area, a junior football pitch, a wildlife section and an activity trail. People are invited to choose a new name for the ‘rec’.

Attractions included a climbing wall, a tug-of-war contest and an animal petting corner.
