THE FICTIONAL world of Weatherfield came to Bulwell when a nursing home welcomed two stars of the TV soap ‘Coronation Street’.

Popular actor Allen Halsall, aka long-standing character Tyrone Dobbs, and his off-screen wife, Lucy Jo Hudson, who used to play Katy Harris on the ‘Street’, were special guests at Fairway View on Swale Close.

The duo chatted with residents and gave out signed photos — before one pensioner insisted on giving the stars HER autograph!

Halsall and Hudson had been due to officially open the new home last year but couldn’t make it.

Their belated appearance coincided with a spring fair where members of the public also got the chance to meet them.

Other attractions included a raffle for a commemorative book to mark 50 years of ‘Corrie’. It was signed by Halsall and Hudson.

The fair, which also featured a tombola, home-made cakes and handbag and books stalls, raised a total of £159, which will boost a residents’ fund.

The home’s deputy manager, Mandy Newbury, said: “Allen and Lucy Jo were lovely and spent time with everyone. It was great to welcome two TV stars.”
