Big-hearted volunteers who are helping fit seats in Hucknall’s disused Byron Cinema have been praised by organisers.
A fantastic 57 seats have already been installed in the auditorium and The Byron Community Project has planned two more days to finish the job.
Volunteers are welcome on Sunday 8th February and Sunday 1st March, from 11am to 5pm, but need not stay for the full six-hour shifts.
Organiser Meg Zanker said: “We would simply be grateful for any time you can spare. If seat fitting is not really for you but you still want to help still please get in touch, there are other little jobs you can help us with while the seat fitting is going on.”
Meg thanked everyone who helped fit seats on January 25th, adding: “We were impressed with how everyone got stuck in to cleaning, prepping and fixing the seats. Not forgetting the all important testing. Our chief seat tester has personally sat on all the newly fitted seats to check comfort factor and audio levels so that no squeaks are louder than the accepted norm.”
To volunteer email firstname.lastname@example.org, bring your own Philips screwdriver and wear old clothes. The project’s next public meeting is on Saturday 7th February.
