A VEIL of secrecy over an ingenious hen-night send-off for a Hucknall bride-to-be was finally lifted — as her friends turned out in a range of wedding dresses!
The stunt was in honour of Lisa England, who will marry Shaun McNeil later this month.
A group of ten married women decided to surprise Lisa for a champagne get-together at the Horse And Groom pub in Linby.
Eight of the group donned their own wedding gowns, some of which were last worn 18 years ago.
Sadly, two of the women couldn’t wear their dresses — because they no longer fit!
The wedding-gown idea was the brainchild of Silvana Tudino.
Lisa’s ‘hens’ also laid on a chauffeur-driven Ferrari sports car to drive her to the pub on Main Street.
After drinks, they all went back to a friend’s house for a meal.
One of those at the hen night was Angie Stewart, who wore the purple dress she sported for her wedding in the Caribbean 11 years ago.
She said: “Everyone entered into the spirit and at least wore veils or head-dresses. We thought it would be a good idea because it was something completely different from the usual things that go on at hen nights.
“We are a group of girls who are really close and it was great fun.”
