TWO children from the Dispatch district won a ‘lucky dip’ to join a celebration event to mark the success of Notts County Council’s Summer Reading Challenge.
They were MILLIE MARTIN, representing Hucknall’s Edgewood Library, and EMILY SMITH, who represented Annesley Library.
The event took place at County Hall, West Bridgford.
A total of nearly 9,000 children from across Nottinghamshire took part in the challenge to read six books last summer with almost half meeting the target.
The Summer Reading Challenge is now in its 13th year and reaches a total of 760,000 children across the country.
It is the brainchild of the charity Reading Agency and is aimed at inspiring youngsters to read.
