A WITCH’S cauldron, overflowing with powerful punch, helped a Hallowe’en party at a pub in Hucknall go with a bang.
More than 100 revellers flocked to the Yew Tree on Nottingham Road for a bash that went on into the early hours of the morning.
Prizes were dished out for those who came up with the most imaginitive fancy-dress costumes.
Top prize of £50 went to a regular who dressed up as a blood-stained nurse.
Runners-up prizes of £10 went to a corpse bride and two women who dressed up as vampires.
The popular pub was also fully decorated with a giant spider behind the bar, cobwebs, pumpkins, broomsticks and skeletons.
A karaoke session and DJ duo, who played classics such as ‘Monster Mash’ and ‘Thriller’, ensured everyone had a swinging time.
Well-known landlady Jacqui Burton, who runs the pub with her husband Lee, said: “Things went well and we had a really good turnout.
“Everyone got involved and had a great time. The punch looked like a giant cauldron of blood but it tasted great.”
Jacqui and Lee formerly ran the Flying Bedstead on Watnall Road in the town but have been at the Yew Tree for the last six months.
The say everything is going well and they are enjoying plenty of support from regulars at a venue which has also undergone a facelift.
