Work is now underway on an apartment complex for older people that will replace a former sheltered housing scheme in Hucknall.

Ashfied district councillors, officers and builders from Wilmott Dixon gathered on site at Darlison Court to lay the first bricks that will become 39 new apartments for residents aged 60 years and over.

The homes, which will replace a scheme that is no longer fit for purpose, will be environmentally efficient to reduce bills. The majority of the homes will be let to those on the waiting list who have few or no support needs, while ten of the apartments will be suitable for residents who require extra care facilities.
