THE life and work of one of Hucknall’s most famous sons, composer Eric Coates, was the theme of a talk at the October meeting of HUCKNALL MEN’S PROBUS CLUB.
The speakers were Geoff Sheldon and Peter Butler, chairman and secretary respectively of the Eric Coates Society.
The club members listened in awe as the speakers illustrated their talk with two of his best-known works, The Dambusters March and The Knightsbridge March.
Many questions were asked about Coates’s early life, his schooling and future use of his boyhood home at Tenter Hill on Duke Street, Hucknall.
President Colin Tinker expressed thanks to the speakers and good wishes for the society’s future.
