FAST and furious action was the order of the day as a taster-session in ‘Xtreme’ sports flooded Titchfield Park in Hucknall.
More than 150 visitors flocked to the town’s premier open space to try their hand at BMX-riding, scootering and skateboarding at an event that coincided with the school Easter holidays.
More unusual sports of free running — the art of acrobatically leaping from one object to another — and slacklining — the challenge of balancing on nylon webbing between two pivot points — were also on offer.
Youngsters from the age of six up to adults got to grips with ramps and rails and tried out jumps, spins and tricks under the watchful eyes of experts.
A spokesman for organiser Ashfield District Council said: “More than 150 people took part in the workshops. The sessions were a huge success.”
The event was also a forerunner for the Xtreme Active Ashfield Games, the finals of which will also be held at Titchfield Park in Hucknall on Sunday July 1.
Prospective competitiors have signed up to heats throughout the district in May and June in three age-categories — six-to-12-year-olds, 13-to-16-year-olds and 17-and-over.
