REMEMBRANCE day will soon be here when hundreds will stand at Hucknall cenotaph in Titchfield Park to pay their respects to the men and women of the armed forces who have given their lives for us.
The condition of the cenotaph and surrounding areas is pretty poor. The amount of algae growing on the paths and steps is making it very dangerous, it will be very sad to see someone slip and injure themselves while laying a wreath.
The cenotaph itself is in dire need of a good clean. I am proud that my father served in the Army for 26 years and was awarded the military MBE.
I am sure that his friends who lost their lives would be upset that a memorial to them has been left to get in a neglected state.
Come on whoever is responsible, let’s have a bit of spit and polish on the cenotaph.
