I WAS very surprised to see such a vitriolic and denigrating Letter from the Hucknall Labour Party campaign co-ordinator John Wilkinson published in the Dispatch last week (‘Labour’s Nine Councillors Want To Know The Views Of Voters’).
Most of his text is a complete fabrication and reflects in no way what I said in my original Letters. I trust he does not take the same distasteful attitude to all comments he gets from the interested public.
My second Letter did, in fact, contain specific suggestions how the council might adopt a more effective approach to communication with the public via a regular newspaper forum.
Such articles should present details and analyses of current issues. In return, the public could contribute their thoughts and ideas. There would be a cost to such a venture but it would be far better spent than a two-question survey or referendum.
