I KNOW that a Stirling bomber crashed in Annesley Woods in January 1945.
I am also aware that there is a memorial to the crew who died, and an information board about the accident at the junction of the A611 and A608 roads.
I am told “there is a marker deep in the woods showing the location of the crash”. But I have never met anyone who actually knows the position of the marker.
Can any Dispatch readers help me by giving more precise details of the marker? Specifically, its position and what the marker looks like?
