Zenani singing for record deal

A TALENTED young singer with ties to Hucknall is hoping to land a record deal by shining in a national competition.

Thirteen-year-old Zenani Thomas, who went to the Holy Cross Roman Catholic School in the town, is through to the area finals of the Open Mic UK contest.

The teenager, who lives in Redhill and goes to the Nottingham Bluecoat School, has already won over judges in an audition and regional final.

Now she is preparing for the next stage at Dewsbury Town Hall in West Yorkshire on Sunday December 11.

If she wins through this section, she will be on the bill for the grand final at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday January 21 next year.

The top prize is a contract with up to £30,000 worth of investment.
