Hucknall Town completed an undefeated February with a comfortable 2- 0 win against Mickleover RBL.
RBL had several dual signings from Mickleover Sports in their ranks and their keeper was in outstanding form in keeping the scoreline respectable.
After withstanding a bright ten minute opening by Mickleover the Yellows steadily gained the upper hand with some good pressing but the Mickleover keeper denied them on two occasions before Kajally Danso looked to have done everything right by lobbing the on rushing keeper only for the ball to bounce over the bar.
Town did take the lead from a Michael Banister corner when Joe Atkinson received the ball with his back to goal, spun and volleyed home from close range.
Joe Ashurst was tormenting the Mickleover right-back and put in some good low crosses which Matt Brian was unlucky not too turn home.
The second-half saw Town press to extend their lead but the Mickleover keeper was in no mood to allow that to happen by pulling off three excellent saves from Brian, Banister and Ashurst.
Town’s efforts were finally rewarded when Danso crashed a shot through a crowd of players to give Town a two-goal cushion.
Brian was becoming frustrated as another effort was saved and then he had a glorious chance to seal an excellent performance of his own but instead of hitting the ball first time with his left he tried to tee up his right and his shot was saved by the keeper.
But Town ran the clock down take all three points.
