Abu Dhabi doo! Hucknall six-a-side champions retain their title

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS (AGAIN!) -- Abu Dhabi

Jubilant Abu Dhabi sealed their second successive title in the HUCKNALL SIX-A-SIDE MONDAY NIGHT LEAGUE at The National Academy.

Since losing on the opening night of the season (2-1 to Jurassic Pork), Abu Dhabi have reeled off 12 straight victories. And the 12th -- 3-1 against lowly K.F.C. in their penultimate fixture -- was enough to give them an unassailable lead at the top. K.F.C. didn’t make it easy, but an exquisite finish by Matt Peberday, who deftly chipped the ‘keeper, topped off a decisive man-of-the-match performance for the champions.

The scrap for the runners-up spot will go to the wire after Warriors were leapfrogged on goal-difference in second place by Team 316, who beat them 4-1. In a high-quality match, the man-of-the-match display of Shane Scrimshaw made the difference for Team 316, who will hold on to their position if they beat Jurassic Pork in their last match next week.

Jurassic continued their slump with a 2-0 defeat against The Groomsmen, whose man-of-the-match was the tireless Richard Keeble. And in the other match of the week, Baywatch Babes shared an entertaining 3-3 draw with bottom-of-the-table Heaton Sports, whose star man was Nathan Savage.
