Alfreton Town have two Christmas crackers lined up for both their own and local football fans over the festive period.
The club are repeating their reduced admission prices which they trialed against Braintree Town recently which brought a vastly-improved gate of 904. The attendance for the same fixture last season drew just 496.
Admission prices for both the Skrill Premier home games against Dartford on 21st December and Southport on 28th December will be at the same low prices as the Braintree game.
Admission for adults (aged between 22 and 64) is just £12 on for each game, with concessions (65 and over) down to £10, a young adult (aged 17 to 21) is just £5 and children under 16 can once again get in for free provided that they are accompanied by a paying adult.
Reds director John Glasby explained the club’s decision to extend the trial prices. “Obviously the first one was reasonably successful from our point of view” he said.
“We are particularly interested in the Under-16s section of the support as that was greatly increased for the Braintree fixture, somewhere around treble-fold the numbers we usually attract.
“That section is obviously the future of the club and the fact that we are again offering free admission to under-16s – accompanied by an adult - will once again hopefully go down very well with the local youngsters.
“Last time was an international weekend with no games for the likes of Derby County and Nottingham Forest. This time we have got to see whether it will succeed with other things against us.
“We are not expecting a massive gate for the Dartford fixture but we would hope that the prices will attract both neutrals and non-regulars to the Impact Arena.
“However, we will be really disappointed if the Southport game on the 28th is not a cracking gate considering the team are away on Boxing Day and local fans will have been sat at home wanting some football entertainment at an affordable price which we certainly believe we are offering” ended Glasby.
Both the Dartford and Southport games have 3pm kick-offs.
