Striker Reece ‘Raj’ Jackson celebrated his 26th birthday with a hat-trick for HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES in the Notts Senior League’s First Division.
Jackson, who is better known as manager of Hucknall’s newly-crowned county champions T8’s, helped Rolls hammer Awsworth Villa Reserves 7-2.
Ross Lamb, Matt Rick, Rory Smith and Aaron Potter also scored and Rolls followed up with a 4-1 defeat of Nottinghamshire to cement their place in the top four of the table. Once again, Jackson, Rick (2) and Smith were on target.
The youngsters of HUCKNALL TOWN AFC showed their exciting potential with a terrific 3-1 victory over South Normanton Athletic in the South Division of the Central Midlands League.
AFC, who are Town’s reserve side, fell behind to a superb 25-yard strike. But they equalised ten minutes from half-time when Andy Richards drove into the corner. And they edged ahead on 65 when Adam Moran sidefooted home from a Jamie Slack pass.
AFC deservedly sealed the points when 17-year-old Macauley Spencer turned his marker inside out before smashing a fierce shot into the top corner.
The title chances of LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES suffered a blow with a 2-1 defeat at home to Ashland Rovers in the Notts Senior League’s Second Division.
Controversial decisions by the referee and linesman cost Linby dear, with Ross Cheeseman having two good-looking goals disallowed at the start and end of the game.
In between time, a foul on ‘keeper Glenn Guyatt helped Ashland go two up in 34 minutes before Tom Endy pulled one back on 75.
Last midweek, Linby won 2-0 at Selston Reserves thanks to goals from Darren Dickens.
