Buoyant BULWELL RANGERS UNDER-18S swept to the top of the Notts Youth League’s Sunday Second Division after an eight-goal thriller at home to Ruddington Colts.
Bottom-of-the-table Ruddington, who have mustered only one point all season, gave Rangers a bit of a scare.
But the locals emerged triumphant thanks to two goals apiece from Joel Deavin and Liam Towle and one from substitute Josh Lowe.
The result lifted Rangers one point above Netherfield Boys, whose scheduled match was postponed, and local-derby rivals HUCKNALL WARRIORS UNDER-18S RED, who suffered their second costly defeat in succession.
Seven days after crashing 7-1 at home to Rangers, Warriors were beaten 2-1 away to fifth-placed Inter City.
Joseph Cox was on target for the Hucknall outfit, whose man-of-the-match was Tyler Stafford.
However, Inter pinched all three points thanks to a brace from Tamar Thomas.
A DISAPPOINTING defeat at home to fellow strugglers Eastwood Town Juniors left HUCKNALL SPORTS UNDER-16S WHITE languishing next to the bottom of the Saturday Second Division table.
Sports, who have won just twice in 18 league matches this season, were holding Eastwood to 2-2 at the interval after goals from Robbie Brown and Matthew Sims.
But they sank to a 4-2 reverse as Eastwood turned the screw in the second half. The visitors’ marksmen were Cory Rose (2), Liam Wicks and man-of-the-match Simon McClure.
A KEY match between title-chasing duo BULWELL FOREST UNDER-15S and unbeaten title favourites Woodthorpe Rangers ended in a 1-1 draw at the top of the Saturday Third Division.
Morgan Dodson was on target for third-placed Bulwell, only for Morgan Bell to pounce for the visitors to salvage a share of the spoils.
The result left the locals four points beind leaders Bestwood Park Rangers, with two games in hand.
However, confident Woodthorpe remain three above them with their own game in hand.
