The eagerly-awaited top-of-the-table clash involving BULWELL fell foul of the weather for the second weekend running.
The Bulls, who top the Central Midlands League’s South Division, were due to take on second-placed Bilborough Pelican. However, after more heavy rain last week, the match was postponed because Pelican’s Lenton Lane ground was waterlogged.
The postponement was one of several to afflict the division, leaving all the leading positions unchanged in the table.
Bulwell, who are gunning for their THIRD successive league championship after unprecedented success in the Notts Senior League, sit five points clear of Pelican, who have two games in hand.
A further two points behind, and with three games in hand, are South Normanton Athletic. But the teams in fourth, fifth and seventh, Belper United, Allenton United and Clifton All Whites, are also still in the title mix.
Bulwell’s next game is now the one at home to struggling Blidworth Welfare this coming Saturday when they hope to parade three new signings -- Jamie Walker, Darren Garmston and Ryan Bowen.
They could well extend their advantage at the top because, weather permitting, Pelican and South Normanton play each other in the league’s match of the day.
IN THE Notts Senior League’s First Division, HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES fell to an unlucky 2-0 defeat away to promotion-pushing Bingham Town.
In their first match for more than a month, manager Adrian Gibson had to play himself in goal. But Danny Gamble had two efforts cleared off the line before Bingham snatched the points with goals in the last ten minutes from Jacob Wall and substitute Darek Bull.
ROLLS RESERVES LINE-UP (4-4-2) -- Gibson/ Dove, Brooks, Tolley, Lamb/ Woodings, Bailey, Thomas, Lindo (Tremere)/ Gamble, Richardson. Subs: Edwards C., Wright (Jake).
