A late equaliser spared the blushes of top scorer Jake Fisher as BULWELL were held to a surprise 1-1 draw by lowly Southwell City in the Central Midlands League’s South Division.

In their penultimate match of the season, Bulwell were expected to roll over next-to-bottom Southwell in their push for the runners-up spot.

But the prolific Fisher missed a penalty ten minutes into the second half -- after Stuart Gill had given the plucky visitors a deserved 11th minute lead.

And Bulwell only grabbed a share of the spoils thanks to centre-back Jay Knight, who popped up with what could prove to be a crucial goal just four minutes from time.

Knight’s strike rounded off a second period in which The Bulls were easily the better side and created a host of other chances. However, they had been poor, by their lofty standards, in the opening 45 minutes when improving Southwell showed why they had beaten another Dispatch district outfit, Hucknall Rolls Leisure, in midweek.
