Beaming Bulwell not only won the big match, they were also crowned the first champions of the local derby fantasy league for the Dispatch district.

That was the outcome from the penultimate local derby of the Central Midlands League, South Division season at Watnall Road last Saturday.

Because the main four clubs in the Hucknall and Bulwell area have all been playing in the same division this term, the Dispatch has been charting the results of all the matches between them to compile a fantasy table.

Even though the season has barely reached February, all bar one of the derbies has now been played. And Bulwell snatched the title after a 1-0 win at Hucknall Town to usurp The Yellows by just one point.

Frustrated Town had only needed to avoid defeat to become the derby kings after winning four of their first five (including a 4-0 romp at Bulwell) and amassing easily the best goal-difference of the four teams.

The results of all 11 games played so far in the unofficial Dispatch Derby Stakes are:

Bulwell 0 Hucknall Town 4, Bulwell 3 Linby Colliery Welfare 2, Bulwell 1 Hucknall Rolls Leisure 1, Hucknall Town 4 Hucknall Rolls 1, Hucknall Town 1 Linby CW 0, Hucknall Town 0 Bulwell 1, Hucknall Rolls 1 Hucknall Town 5, Hucknall Rolls 0 Bulwell 1, Hucknall Rolls 3 Linby CW 0, Linby CW 2 Bulwell 3, Linby CW 4 Hucknall Town 0.

The one derby left to play -- between Linby and Rolls on a date to arranged -- will determine who ends up with the wooden spoon at the foot of the table.

The Dispatch would be delighted to hear from any business wishing to sponsor the league and provide a prize next season.
