SHOCK exit for Linby Reserves

Shellshocked LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES are licking their wounds after a shock exit from the Notts FA Saturday Junior County Cup.

As one of the higher-ranked sides, Linby were strongly fancied to go well in the competition. But they were knocked out by an Ashland Rovers Reserves side who play a division below them in the Notts Senior League. And not only that -- they threw away a 2-0 half-time lead, provided by a penalty from top marksman Luke Price and a wonder goal from man-of-the-match Jonny Bernard.

Jst when Jamie Wheatley’s troops looked to be coasting home, they let Ashland pull a goal back and then equalise to force extra-time. The winner, in the first period of the extra half-hour, completed a hat-trick for Paul Revuelta and a 3-2 win for the jubilant home side that booked them a place in the quarter-finals.
