Hello everybody and I welcome you all back to Catling’s Corner.

A Happy New Year to everybody and I hope you all had a good Christmas.

After having a short break over the festive period my blog is now back weekly and I hope everybody enjoys it again.

I start with our home game against our bogey team, Accrington Stanley, and our run of not beating them continued as we lost 3-2.

With the players we have at our disposal our home form really is shocking.

It was the worst home game I’ve seen us play this season other than the last 20 minutes in the first half.

We can’t keep giving a team a one goal lead to start the game as this has happened in our last six home games in a row, so by this there is obviously something wrong.

Josh Windass absolutely ripped us apart in the first half as well as former Stag Billy Kee.

They should have been out of sight even before we got the goal, but because they didn’t we then came back into the game and was it probably a bad thing that we went in for half-time.

Something seriously has got to change, whether that be players coming in to freshen it up, because at this rate, with our home form, we are going to finish mid-table - exactly where we are now.

It might actually help in games if we were able to defend crosses or set pieces as this seems to be a real weak link for us.

In the end, though, Accrington deserved their win as we weren’t up for the game at all.

With another home game coming up on Saturday against Stevenage we need this form at home to pick up and for us to finally get the three points.

We have this week been linked with Liam Lawrence and John Akinde, which in my eyes would be brilliant signings.

I’ll give Adam Murray credit, though -he’s not bought a bad signing in yet this season and I hope whoever comes in will help us pick this form up.

The other priority has to be keeping hold of Blair Adams.

I mean why wouldn’t Blair not want to stay with us over the rubbish from Nottingham?

The other bit I want to talk about is whoever chose the man of match obviously went to the wrong game. It had to be Pearce or Jensen in my eyes as they were the only two who I thought had at least a decent game.

Another frustration was the Chris Clements goal at the end of the game.

We all know Clemmo has the quality this season so why not let him have a free role and let him have license to hit wonder goals like that all the while.

I don’t think Clemmo and Chapman can play together as they are the same sort of players but with a Rose or McGuire next to them I think it would work a lot better.

Anyway, it was another disappointing week at home after not putting a poor York team away and losing to Accrington.

I trust Murray to bring some players in and get us back fighting at the top as this crop of players are good, but we just need that bit of extra quality to take us further.

To finish I would like to say congratulations to one of my best mates, Chay Bray, and his now-wife Lisa, who got married over the festive period.

Come on Adam Murray’s barmy army and Coys!
