CRISIS-hit Hucknall Town suffered their second humiliating double-figure defeat of the season on Wednesday night.
Depleted Town crashed 10-0 away to Northwich Victoria to stay rooted to the bottom of Division One South in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.
It was almost as bad as the staggering 13-1 reverse at the hands of Loughborough Dynamo on New Year’s Day when they could field oinly eight players.
This time, The Yellows turned out a full quota, but they were without their new contingent from Mansfield Town’s youth team because the young Stags also had a midweek match.
Rampant Northwich were three up after only 12 minutes, five up at half-time and nine up as early as the 69th minute.
Kevin Leadbetter burst from left-back to open the scoring, unleashing a splendid low finish that gave goalkeeper James Beddington no chance.
A minute later, Jamie Rainford beat the advancing Beddington with a deft chip, and then a cross by Alex Taylor was headed home by Gary McEvatt.
Next, Rainford slotted in a penalty, awarded when Daniel Wisdom was halted in the box. And as The Vics continued to dazzle Town with their array of passing, it was soon 5-0 as McEvatt dinked the ball home after a volley from distance by Paul Mooney had stung the goalie’s hands.
The Yellows’ only moment of hope in a miserable first half came when Mitch Slawson wriggled free for a firm shot that home ‘keeper Stephen Dickinson dived low to gather.
They were soon under the cosh again in the second period, with Taylor converting a second spot-kick after he had been hauled down by Beddington.
Next came a remartkable burst of three goals in four minutes from Northwich to take the score to 9-0.
Taylor completed a quickfire hat-trick by slotting home on 65 and drilling a superb volley from the edge of the area on 69. And in between, Wisdom placed a shot in the bottom corner after a fine, sprayed pass from Brian Summerskill.
To their credit, Town kept battling away, with new signing Elijah Bonel sending a shot sailing over the bar on a rare attack.
But their wretched night to forget was capped by a tenth Northwich goal in the dying minutes when substitute Michael Clarke delivered a delightful ball over the top for Joe Bunney to tuck away.
The rout means The Yellows have now lost 22 of their 29 league games this term and conceded 111 goals for a goal-difference of minus-81. As well as the 13-1 and 10-0 defeats, they have been beaten 9-1, 8-1 and 6-1 over the past four months.
Since the latest manager to take over, Darren Kelk, bravely tried to piece together a new side, containing only unpaid amateurs and youngsters, the team have suffered four straight defeats, leaking 23 goals and failing to score one.
