The disbandment of Hucknall side THE EMPIRE, with only six matches of the season left, has hit the Notts Sunday Morning League’s Premier First Division.

Among the results duly expunged was the only win of the season so far by Hucknall rivals, BARFLYS H20. But refusing to let it worry them, Flys promptly romped to a superb victory away to promotion-chasing Stratford Haven last Sunday.

A surprise 7-3 success featured a hat-trick by Aidan Dobb, plus two goals from Matt Moult and one apiece from Christian Bennett and also Sean Melbourne, who reminded all why he once basked under the nickname of ‘The Bestwood Beckham’.

In the same division, seven was also the key number for fellow Hucknall outfit AFC H2O. Sadly, they crashed 7-2 at home to Top Valley United, for whom Dave Warden fired a hat-trick. Karl Hutchinson and Ashley Foster netted the AFC goals.
