Children In Need celebrations in the Dispatch district last weekend included a football fun day in Linby.
The Church Lane ground of Linby Colliery Welfare Football Club staged the event on Sunday, which included a visit by Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox and some of his Stags players.
It was organised by car dealership Evans Halshaw, who gave away a car as the first prize in a bumper raffle.
The centrepiece of the day was a football match between a Linby eleven and an Evans Halshaw Peugeot team.
The size of the crowd was disappointing, but lots of money was still raised for BBC TV’s Children In Need appeal.
The fun day was originally planned for Cox’s former club, Eastwood Town, the previous Sunday, but had to be cancelled. Eastwood’s current chairman, Steve Peat, formerly of Linby and Hucknall Town, was also among the VIPs at Church Lane.
